Whisky

46% ABV

Scotland, Isle of Skye

ABOUT THE SPIRIT

The first new distillery on the Isle of Skye in 190 years, Torabhaig fired up its stills in 2017 inside a restored 19th-century farmstead. Its house style is purposefully robust, expressive and heavily peated, channeling Skye’s wild coastal character.

Sound of Sleat is the latest chapter in Torabhaig’s Legacy Series—a waypoint on the road to the distillery’s inaugural 10-year-old. Named after the tidal strait visible from the stillhouse, this small-batch release is matured in a considered mix of first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and new American oak, and bottled at 46% ABV without colouring or chill-filtration (70cl).

TASTING NOTES

A lift of fragrant peat smoke and bright citrus on the nose. The palate is creamy and textural, layering sweet smoke, vanilla, toasted spice and sea-spray salinity. The finish is long, balanced and gently warming, with peat embers and lemon oil lingering.

FRIARWOOD SAYS

A compelling snapshot of Torabhaig’s evolving identity: island peat power with precision. The bourbon/new oak pairing adds plush sweetness to the maritime smoke—ideal neat, with a few drops of water, or alongside hard cheeses and smoked seafood.
