ABOUT THE WINE

Founded in 1895, the Cave de Ribeauvillé is the oldest wine cooperative in France and a benchmark producer in Alsace. Based in the picturesque town of Ribeauvillé, the winery draws fruit from some of the region’s most prestigious vineyard sites. The Grand Cru Osterberg vineyard lies just north of Ribeauvillé, with sun-catching south to southeast-facing slopes that rise to 350 metres in altitude.

This terroir is renowned for producing exceptional Riesling, and the 2021 vintage showcases the purity and precision of the site. The vineyard's limestone and marl soils contribute to the wine’s structure and ageing potential. While Riesling dominates, small parcels of Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer are also cultivated here, reflecting the vineyard’s noble heritage.

TASTING NOTES

The 2021 Osterberg Riesling opens with a vibrant citrus nose, layered with white peach, pear, and evolving hints of flint and gunpowder minerality. On the palate, it is exquisitely balanced, with a bright, racy acidity that drives remarkable length. This is a wine of elegance, complexity, and expressive Alsatian character.

FOOD PAIRING

Perfect with seafood dishes such as marinated salmon, sushi, and scallops. It also pairs beautifully with creamy white sauces, pasta, and mild Asian cuisine.
