ABOUT THE WINE

Petit Figeac is the second wine of the legendary Château Figeac, Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) in Saint-Émilion. Revered for its Cabernet-focused blend on the Right Bank, Figeac stands apart for its finesse and longevity. Crafted with the same meticulous care as the grand vin, Petit Figeac offers a more immediate and approachable interpretation of the estate’s unique gravel-rich terroir.

The 2021 vintage was cooler and more restrained, resulting in a refined, fresh, and elegantly structured wine. The blend leans heavily on Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, creating a wine of balance, purity, and aromatic lift.

TASTING NOTES

Petit Figeac 2021 presents a brilliant ruby hue, with aromas of redcurrant, crushed raspberry, and a hint of fresh violets, underpinned by subtle cedar and graphite notes. On the palate, it is silky and precise, offering vibrant red berry fruit, a core of mineral freshness, and layers of delicate spice. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity lead to a long, savoury finish, with a whisper of tobacco and earthiness emerging on the back palate.

FOOD PAIRING

Perfectly suited to herb-crusted lamb, beef Wellington, or duck with cherry sauce. It also excels with wild mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, or hard cheeses like Comté and Gruyère. For best enjoyment, decant for 30–45 minutes and serve at 16–18°C.
