ABOUT THE WINE
Capanna is one of the historic estates of Montalcino, founded in 1957 by Giuseppe Cencioni and now run by the fourth generation of the family. Located in the renowned Montosoli area north of Montalcino, the estate has long been recognised for producing classic, terroir-driven Brunello wines. The 2019 Riserva represents the pinnacle of their production—sourced from the estate’s best Sangiovese plots and aged extensively to ensure exceptional depth and longevity.
TASTING NOTES
Brilliant ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose is finely layered with red cherry, wild plum, dried rose petal and nuances of vanilla and sweet tobacco. On the palate, expect a graceful structure: full-bodied yet polished, with notes of spiced red berries, liquorice, and earthy minerality. The tannins are refined and integrated, thanks to extended barrel ageing, leading to a persistent and savoury finish. A textbook Riserva—concentrated, elegant, and built for the long haul.
FOOD PAIRING
Ideal with traditional Tuscan fare—aged Parmigiano Reggiano, wild boar ragu, grilled Chianina steak, or herb-crusted lamb. Also a perfect match for game meats and rich mushroom-based dishes.
