ABOUT THE WINE
Bodega Monteviejo is owned and run by the Péré-Vergé Family who also owns various other Châteaux in Pomerol, these are Château Montviel, Château La Gavière and the world famous Château La Violette. Monteviejo is a true expression of Argentinian character, made by the world famous winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti. The wines made at this very special property in Argentina are treated with the same commitment and care as those produced back home in Bordeaux. The vineyards, over 100 hectares, are located in the Tunuyan region, just 80km south of the city of Mendoza. Their aim is to create wines that can compete with the world’s best. The yields are kept low, with vines planted at a density of 5,500 vines per hectare, to produce the best quality wine.
TASTING NOTES
Smooth and decadent black fruit notes are married impeccably to the black pepper earthiness and edge and were treated with a velvety blanket of warm, toasty oak spice. An outstandingly balanced and typical example of impeccable New World Bordeaux blend.
FOOD PAIRING
Traditional Asado steak with Chimichurri, Roasted Grouse and Lamb Osso Buco with red wine and rosemary.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
Old world and new world mix in this great red wine.
