ABOUT THE WINE
Château Le Gay is a historic estate in Pomerol, dating back to the 1840s. In 1946, it came under the stewardship of the renowned Robin sisters, who also owned the legendary Château Lafleur. A new chapter began in 2002, when Catherine Péré-Vergé acquired the estate and began revitalising it with an uncompromising focus on quality.
New vineyards were planted, and by 2006, those parcels were contributing to the Grand Vin. Renowned oenologist Michel Rolland joined as consultant, working alongside winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti to craft wines of depth and finesse. The estate follows sustainable farming practices, maintains low yields, and produces wines with concentration and elegance. Manoir de Gay is the estate's second wine — a refined expression of modern Pomerol winemaking.
TASTING NOTES
The 2019 Manoir de Gay offers an expressive bouquet of ripe plum, blackberry, and dark cherry, with subtle floral notes and sweet spice. Composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the wine is full-bodied and plush, with silky tannins, impressive depth, and a long, polished finish. A beautifully balanced second wine that overdelivers in both structure and charm.
FOOD PAIRING
Ideal with roast meats such as beef, lamb, or game birds. For a vegetarian pairing, try it with mushroom risotto, lentil stew, or a truffle pasta dish to complement the wine’s earthy richness.
