ABOUT THE WINE
The Portuguese DOC of Dao is one of the oldest demarcated wine-regions in the world. Located inland in the northern part of the country -120km southeast of Porto - the area has an ancient tradition of wine production, with warm dry summers and abundant winter rainfall. With 6 hectares of vines, planted in 2000 with traditional grape varieties in the heart of the Dao region, the Kelman family seeks to build their own legacy in this beautiful region. Their wines are produced with minimal intervention - following integrated production practices and sustainable agricultural methods (such as no additional irrigation and manually harvesting) together with a rational use of resources that all aim to help preserve local ecosystems.

TASTING NOTES
12 months in new French oak for the Touriga Nacional portion. Deep, dark and rich; ripe red fruit aromas, dark fruit and fragrant cinnamon-spice on the palate. Superb intensity and length; a very beautiful wine, with excellent ageing-potential.

FOOD PAIRING
A perfect pairing for beef, from juicy steaks to burgers on the barbecue.

FRIARWOOD SAYS
The grapes for this wine are entirely foot-trodden in traditional lagars to provide the most genteel extraction possible. They also do not use any animal based winemaking products so their wines are absolutely vegan friendly.
