ABOUT THE WINE

Whispering Angel rosé comes from the world renowned Château d’Esclans. Located on an exceptional site, in the Escland Valley, on elevated land near the Gorges de Pennafort, twenty-five kilometers northwest of the ancient Roman city of Frejus on the Mediterranean coast. Some 3.2 million bottles of Whispering Angel rosé were sold in over 100 countries around the world in 2016; and the Whispering Angel rosé brand has gone from strength to strength since. More astonishing is the fact that, despite the huge volumes produced, with grapes sourced from growers throughout Provence, the quality which makes Whispering Angel rosé so well loved remains undimmed.

TASTING NOTES

Harvested during the serene Provençal dawns, meticulously de-stemmed and fermented exclusively in stainless steel. Temperature regulated to prevent oxidation. 'Bâtonnage' (the agitation of the lees sediment in the tank) is performed bi-weekly to enhance the wine's velvety texture. Enticing aromas of delicate red berries, crisp and vibrant on the palate, with an elegantly refined mouthfeel. The 2023 Whispering Angel rosé is an outstanding experience.

FOOD PAIRING

Whispering Angel rosé 2023 is superb as a standalone aperitif, or with shrimp ceviche and artisanal bruschetta; ideal for a beachside gathering.

Garrus is the crown jewel of Château d'Esclans and one of the world’s most prestigious rosé wines. First produced in 2006 by Sacha Lichine, Garrus redefined what a rosé could be—powerful, age-worthy, and layered with complexity akin to fine white Burgundy or Grand Cru Champagne.

Crafted from 80-year-old Grenache vines and Rolle (Vermentino), the 2022 vintage is barrel-fermented and aged in large French oak barrels using bâtonnage to enhance richness and structure. As always, only the finest free-run juice is used, ensuring precision and elegance in every bottle. 2022 saw a warm, dry growing season in Provence, resulting in exceptional concentration and freshness.

Tried a Sample - Had to Buy a Bottle!

I had the chance to sample this wine when the shop had it on-tasting at the counter, and it was absolutely stunning. If you're looking for a Chardonnay with body and beautifully integrated oak, this is a fantastic choice. I brought the bottle to a friend’s dinner party, and it was a huge hit. Highly recommended!

Such a great Malbec!

Really impressed by this one — it's full of rich, bold fruit flavours with just the right amount of spice. You can tell it’s made with care, and it definitely drinks like a much more expensive wine. I had it with a grilled steak and it was spot on. Super smooth, nicely balanced, and just a bit of that earthy depth that makes you want another glass. Would happily buy again!
