ABOUT THE WINE

Founded in 1958 by Domenico Fraccaroli in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, the family estate has grown over three generations into a producer of distinctive wines from both Friuli and Veneto. In 2002, Domenico’s son Tiziano expanded the winery’s reach by acquiring the Grotta del Ninfeo estate in Lavagno, Verona, allowing the family to produce the classic wines of Valpolicella. Today, brothers Domenico and Luca carry on the tradition, crafting wines of elegance and regional authenticity. The 2019 Ripasso Superiore reflects the harmony of tradition and modern precision, showcasing richness without sacrificing finesse.

TASTING NOTES

Fragrant aromas of ripe red cherry, dried cranberry, and subtle raisin, layered with gentle hints of cinnamon and clove from 12 months in French oak tonneaux. The palate is smooth and refined, with supple tannins and a harmonious balance between vibrant fruit and savoury complexity. The finish is long, with notes of red fruit, spice, and a touch of dried herbs.

FOOD PAIRING

An ideal match for feathered game, rabbit ragu, roast pork loin, or lighter red meat dishes. Also pairs well with mature hard cheeses.

FRIARWOOD SAYS

Ripasso is made by refermenting Valpolicella wine on the pressed skins and stems of Amarone, adding depth, warmth, and complexity while maintaining the fresh, lifted profile of Valpolicella. The 2019 vintage is an elegant example of this beloved style.
