ABOUT THE WINE
Saxenburg Wine Estate, located in the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch, is one of South Africa’s most distinctive wine producers. In 1989, Adrian and Birgit Bührer left Switzerland for the wild beauty of the Cape Winelands, where they revived this historic estate. Today, second-generation custodians Fiona and Vincent Bührer continue the legacy, crafting expressive wines that honour the terroir. The 2023 Guinea Fowl Chenin Blanc is a vibrant expression of South African winemaking, showcasing the cool coastal influence of vineyards overlooking False Bay.
TASTING NOTES
This 100% Chenin Blanc bursts with aromas of white nectarine, quince, and cantaloupe melon. The palate is textured and layered, thanks to lees stirring, with a refreshing thread of grapefruit zest and vibrant acidity. A beautifully balanced Stellenbosch white wine that reflects both the grape’s versatility and the cooling ocean breezes of the Cape.
FOOD PAIRING
An excellent match for grilled lobster, clams, or roasted turkey. It also complements Cornish hen and rich poultry dishes where bright acidity is needed to cut through savoury flavours.
