ABOUT THE SPIRIT
Founded in 2011, in Evanston, Illinois, just north of Chicago, a town which at the beginning of the 20th Century was the headquarters of the Prohibition movement in the United States. Indeed, the name FEW is drawn from the initials of Francis Elizabeth Willard, a prominent temperance campaigner and suffragette. Batch-distilled in small quantities, with the most of the processing done on-site.
TASTING NOTES
Fragrant oak and rye-bread aromas; mellow on the palate, with dried grass, vanilla and cinnamon. Relatively genteel, especially compared to the Bourbon, with a hint of vanilla-fudge sweetness on the soft finish.
FOOD PAIRING
Ideal for everything from a premium cocktail ingredient (makes an excellent Manhattan) to relaxed sipping.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
A two-grain mash-bill of rye and corn, the sweetness of the latter melding with the spice of the former to create a harmonious whole. Aged in air-dried (as opposed to charred) American oak barrels, which impart a more genteel oak flavour.
