ABOUT THE WINE

The Dão DOC is one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world, nestled inland in northern Portugal, about 120km southeast of Porto. With warm, dry summers and abundant winter rainfall, the region offers ideal conditions for producing structured, age-worthy red wines.

Founded in 2000, the Kelman family cultivates 6 hectares of traditional grape varieties using sustainable, low-intervention viticulture — no irrigation, manual harvesting, and integrated production practices that protect the local ecosystem. The 2017 Tinto Reserva is a powerful and elegant red blend that captures the essence of Dão terroir, with an emphasis on Touriga Nacional aged for 12 months in new French oak.

TASTING NOTES

Deep and brooding in the glass, this wine opens with aromas of ripe black fruit, exotic cardamom, and subtle oak spice. On the palate, it’s rich and layered, with flavours of dark berries, plum, and hints of vanilla and spice. Silky tannins, great concentration, and a long finish make this a wine of remarkable depth and ageing potential.

FOOD PAIRING

A versatile pairing for filet mignon, barbecue brisket sliders, or slow-cooked lamb shanks. Also pairs beautifully with mushroom stroganoff, eggplant Parmesan, or grilled portobello mushrooms.
