ABOUT THE WINE
The 1961 vintage is widely regarded as one of the greatest of the 20th century in Bordeaux, and Château Figeac – already a benchmark estate in Saint-Émilion – produced a wine of remarkable longevity and distinction. With its unique gravel terroir and Cabernet-led blend, Figeac often excels in warmer vintages. This bottle is a rare opportunity to experience a piece of Bordeaux history from a legendary year, when yields were small but quality was exceptional.
TASTING NOTES
Fully mature yet astonishingly alive. Aromas of dried cherry, cigar box, leather, forest floor and old rose petals unfold gracefully. The palate is silky and evolved, with delicate red fruit, savoury earth, truffle, and tobacco notes. Tannins are resolved, and the finish is long, elegant and hauntingly complex. A wine of quiet power and profound nuance.
FOOD PAIRING
Best appreciated on its own or with simple dishes like roast squab, wild mushroom risotto or a truffled cheese selection. Decant gently and serve with reverence.
