San Patrime is known for producing exceptional value wines from native Puglian grape varieties, and this 2022 Primitivo is a standout example. Crafted in southern Italy’s sun-drenched region of Puglia, this bold red showcases the richness and warmth the area is known for. Primitivo, genetically linked to Zinfandel, thrives in this climate, producing wines with deep colour, ripe fruit, and mellow complexity.
TASTING NOTES
Classic aromas of plum, cherry, and vanilla, accented by a hint of rosemary. The palate is generous and smooth, with rich dark fruit and a lingering, soft finish — a true expression of Italian Primitivo red wine.
FOOD PAIRING
An ideal match for American-style pizza, roast meats, or slow-cooked dishes like goulash. Its fruit-forward character and soft tannins also make it versatile with rich pasta or barbecue.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
Aged for 6 months in concrete vats, this wine balances intensity with softness. The Primitivo grape, brought to Puglia from Slovenia in the 1800s, shares a history with Zinfandel, making it both familiar and distinctly Italian.
