ABOUT THE WINE
On the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl in Gols, Gebrüder Nittnaus farms 57 hectares across 70+ parcels, championing indigenous reds under certified organic viticulture. Led by Andreas & Hans Michael Nittnaus since 1986, the estate crafts Blaufränkisch with clarity and poise. Blaufränkisch Edelgrund 2022 captures the variety’s spicy, mineral spine with the vintage’s ripe, luminous fruit—an elegant, authentic Burgenland red.
TASTING NOTES
Pure and expressive: black cherry, blackberry and ripe plum glide into violet, cracked pepper and subtle graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with lively acidity, fine, polished tannins and a stony, mineral finish that keeps the dark fruit fresh and lifted. Harmonious and drinkable now, with the structure to evolve.
FOOD PAIRING
Brilliant with herb-crusted lamb chops, mushroom risotto, roast game birds, or a fig-glazed burger. Also great with charred aubergine, roasted root veg and hard Alpine cheeses.
