ABOUT THE WHISKY
The Shed Distillery sits in the beautiful village of Drumshanbo on the shores of Lough Allen, in the foothills of Sliabh an Iarainn (The Iron Mountain). This wild, unmanicured landscape in the heart of rural Ireland is the perfect setting for such an authentic distillery; who were determined to revive traditional methods using gleaming copper pot and column stills especially made by Arnold Holstein in Germany. This triple distilled whiskey is the first such made in Connacht in over 105 years and uses only the finest ingredients; being distilled primarily from a mixture of local malted and unmalted barley and also incorporating a small amount of Irish Barra Oats. The unmalted barley lends the new spirit a unique spiciness and depth whilst the malted element is much softer and gives the spirit an inherent sweetness and deeper, fuller body. The small amount of Barra Oats impart a distinctive and elegant creaminess, elevating the whole experience. Aging in Oloroso Sherry Casks - bringing a warmth of pot spice and some sweet honeysuckle notes - and Kentucky Bourbon Barrels - for that sweet, vanilla, caramel feel that American oak lends - complete what can only be described as a delight for the senses.

TASTING NOTES
The nose combines inviting notes of vanilla honey, toasted nut and toffee with underlying aromas of sweet dried fruit. On the palate the initial charm of winter spice, redcurrant and coconut shifts elegantly to deeper notes of dark chocolate, almond and oak. A creamy, full-bodied mouthfeel with unexpected depths leads to a finish of scintillating sweet wine notes, with a slip of dry spice that lingers delicately, sublimely on the palate.

FRIARWOOD SAYS
As part of a quest to create what the distillery likes to call 'Premier Grand Cru Irish Whiskey' Drumshanbo is a must-try for all lovers of fine single malt.
