ABOUT THE WINE
Adrian & Birgit Bührer took the reins of Saxenburg in 1989, exchanging the comfort of Switzerland for the untamed beauty of the Cape Winelands. Today, their homestead is lovingly tended to by second-generation Bührer Family custodians: Fiona and Vincent. Committed to shining a spotlight on the Polkadraai Hills appellation in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa's most distinctive terroirs, they, along with their passionate team, are the artisans behind Saxenburg's captivating wines.

TASTING NOTES
This 100% Chenin Blanc, hailing from vineyards with a commanding view of the renowned False Bay, captivates the senses with its enticing bouquet of white nectarine, quince, and cantaloupe. The palate mirrors these alluring aromas and is further enhanced by the textured complexity imparted by lees stirring. Hints of grapefruit zest lend intrigue, perfectly counterbalanced by lively, invigorating acidity. The 2023 vintage encapsulates the refreshing essence of the Chenin Blanc grape, enriched by the cool coastal influences.

FOOD PAIRING
An exemplary match with grilled lobster or clams, the wine's dynamic profile also resonates beautifully with roasted turkey or Cornish hen.

FRIARWOOD SAYS

Found in great numbers in the region, the guinea fowls that adorn the Saxenburg emblem have become symbolic of their winemaking philosophy, and it’s now the heart, the mind and the soul of Saxenburg.
