The 2020 Gran Reserve Carmenère from Tres Palacios is a bold and expressive red that showcases the best of Chile’s flagship grape. Founded in 1996 by Don Patricio Palacios and Maria Inés Covarrubias, the family-run winery is located in the secluded Cholqui sector of the Maipo Valley, a unique terroir unlike any other in Chile’s Central Valley. Nestled in a natural basin that resembles a volcanic crater, the site is shielded from extreme temperatures, allowing for slow, even ripening and remarkable concentration of flavour.
This Carmenère is a premium expression of the grape — rich, silky, and layered — and a compelling choice for anyone looking to discover the depth and elegance that Chilean red wines can offer.
Deep violet-red in colour, this wine opens with powerful aromas of ripe blackberries, red plum, and spicy black pepper, intertwined with elegant notes of dark chocolate and tobacco. The palate is round and velvety, with smooth tannins and a long, warming finish. A beautifully structured Carmenère that balances fruit richness with subtle oak and spice.
Perfect with grilled meats, slow-roasted lamb, or hearty bean stews. It also pairs wonderfully with spiced barbecue, chorizo, or a classic cheeseboard featuring aged Manchego.
A Carmenère with character and class. This is one of our top picks for bold red wine lovers — smooth, spicy, and irresistibly drinkable. If you haven’t tried Carmenère, start here.

I haven't tried many Carmenere wines before but I was very pleasantly surprised by this one. Very resembling of a Cabernet Sauvignon but with a bit more spice.
