ABOUT THE WINE
Petit Ducru 2020 is the refined second wine of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou (2ème Cru Classé), owned by the Borie family. Drawn from gravel-rich terraces in Saint-Julien, the estate’s well-drained “beautiful pebbles” concentrate flavour and lend precision. The 2020 vintage—the finale of Bordeaux’s 2018–2020 trilogy—brought small, perfectly ripe berries and excellent balance, yielding a Petit Ducru with striking purity, fine structure and immediate appeal, yet clear potential to age.
TASTING NOTES
Deep ruby. Aromas of cassis, blackberry and black cherry glide into violet, graphite and cedar, with a discreet cocoa note. The palate is silky and medium-full, layering ripe dark fruit over polished, fine-grained tannins and a fresh, mineral line. Poised and persistent, finishing long with hints of dark chocolate and spice.
FOOD PAIRING
A natural partner for beef Wellington, grilled rib-eye, or confit duck. Also superb with black-truffle mushroom risotto or a charcuterie & artisan cheese board (Comté, aged Gouda).
