If you are serving a roast ham or gammon this Christmas, you are likely adding a sweet glaze to balance out the saltiness. For a suitable red option, look for wines with generous ripe fruit, avoiding styles with high tannins. Grenache blends and rich styles of Pinot Noir, would be excellent choices! If you prefer white wines, look for full-bodied aromatic styles that can handle the sweetness in the likes of Viognier, Riesling or Gewürztraminer from Alsace. A flavourful Rosé champagne would make for a very exciting pairing as well!
