2021 Judeka, Etna Rosso DOC
Regular price £20.50 Save £-20.50ABOUT THE WINE
Judeka is a young winery producing excellent wines in the heart of Sicily. For owners Cesare and Valentina, wine is a passion they have had since childhood, when their grandparents used to press grapes at home, in a garage. They use organic techniques to produce exceptional wines.
Made from very fine Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio from low yielding vineyards, both young and old. The grapes are macerated until the end of fermentation. The wine then continues its life in wood until bottled roughly one year after harvest.
TASTING NOTES
Rich dark fruit flavors, hints of chocolate, and a touch of Mediterranean herbs. Drunk young it is a distinguished wine. Fresh, fragrant, beautifully slender and with a fine grip, it has a natural polish and stage presence. And, in aging it gathers richness and complexity.

Regular price £16.80 Save £-16.80ABOUT THE WINE
Judeka is a young winery producing excellent wines in the heart of Sicily. For owners Cesare and Valentina, wine is a passion they have had since childhood, when the grandparents used to press grapes at home, in a garage. They use organic techniques to produce exceptional wines.
Their Cerasuolo di Vittoria is the only Sicilian wine which can boast DOCG Certification. It is a wine that strongly expresses its territory of origin, through a perfect synergy between the strength, structure, and the fruitfulness of the Nero d’Avola with the elegance, delicacy and floral qualities of Frappato.
TASTING NOTES
A fruitful medium bodied red wine made of 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato. The Nero d'Avola provides the fruit, while the Frappato provides a freshness and acidity which balances the wine. Excellent on it's own or paired with food - the choice is yours! Serve between 10-12 degrees.
FOOD PAIRING
The strength of this wine is its versatility - it goes with all kinds of dishes, from fish, to meat and cheeses. It is particularly well suited to Japanese food such as okonomiyaki.
2009 Domaine Loic Mahe, Savennieres 'Sectilis Terra'
Regular price £85.50 Save £-85.50ABOUT THE WINE
Having worked as a consultant for other wineries, Brittany-born Loïc couldn't wait to start his own, and so in 2011 he purchased 11 hectares spread between Savennières and La Franchaie, Certified organic and non-interventionist, Loïc prefers to let the effects of the seasons and terroir dominate the character of his wines. Grapes are exclusively picked by hand, with careful sorting to ensure quality fruit. Fermentation is slow, using natural yeasts and minimal sulphites, with maturation in oak barrels or small tanks.
TASTING NOTES
Produced only in exceptional years, from 'green-harvested' vines which are able to concentrate on feeding only 3 or 4 grapes clusters per vine. Harvested by hand, sometimes with small amounts of botrytis-affected grapes, the wine undergoes a slow, natural vinification of 18 months in oak barrels. Golden colour with amber shades, derived from a period of skin-contact prior to fermentation. The nose combines fruity, mineral and woody notes. On mouth it is ample, pure, rich and fresh. Incredibly long finish.
FOOD PAIRING
An exquisite wine to go with rich fish like turbot, brill or a poulet de Bresse or even fatty duck breast. We also recommend pairing with rich baked cheeses, like Comte and Beaufort.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
A great sensory experience! A great wine to drink now but with an ageing potential of 30 years. We recommend decanting for 30 minutes before serving.
