Tromba Cafeto Coffee Liqueur
Regular price £38.75 Save £-38.75ABOUT THE LIQUEUR
Tromba Cafeto Coffee Liqueur is the brainchild of master distiller Marco Cedano, a product that embodies a steadfast dedication to tradition and innovation. This high quality coffee liqueur is the ultimate combination of 100% agave Tequila Tromba and artisanal Mexican grown coffee, with a touch of agave nectar and natural botanicals. For this product, Tromba developed their own proprietary cold brew tequila extraction process that uses tequila instead of water to extract the coffee's natural flavour, with no concentrates or artificial flavours added.
TASTING NOTES
Tromba Cafeto is a perfectly balanced coffee liqueur, perfect on the rocks, as a shot or in your favourite coffee-based cocktails. You'll find exquisite notes of toasted coffee and chocolate, with a touch of tobacco leaves, cooked agave and honey. A freshness is brought through hints of lemon and orange zest, as well as pineapple and mint.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
Tequila Tromba is a testament to the relentless spirit of its master distiller Marco Cedano. Transcending convention, Tromba mirrors the energy of the summer rainstorms of Los Altos, an area known for its superior agave. Each sip is an expression of Marco's unwavering dedication to craft, precision, and his own trailblazing journey in tequila making. The brand not only offers premium tequila but takes a bold stance towards environmental responsibility. The Endangered Agave Program is their commitment to restoring endangered agave populations, and their innovative Bagazo upcycling initiative is a step towards reducing environmental impact. Tromba embodies quality, heritage, and sustainability.
2021 Capanna, Sant'Antimo Rosso
Regular price £29.80 Save £-29.80ABOUT THE WINE
The Capanna farm, owned by the Cencioni family since 1957, is situated in the Montosoli area, to the north of Montalcino. It was founded by Giuseppe Cencioni and his sons, Benito and Franco, and was one of the first estates to form part of the Brunello di Montalcino appellation. The family still manages both viticulture and winemaking on the estate. Their approach is very classic, with structured, powerful reds and intense, complex whites in a traditional, sweet style.
TASTING NOTES
Deep red ruby colour. Intense nose of first ripped blackcurrant, cherry and blackberry and it then opens to spices and liquorice aromas. Excellent structure, quite soft and round, well balanced, pleasant and enveloping tannins.
FOOD PAIRING
Roasted red and white meats, cold cuts and slightly aged cheeses.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
Sant’Antimo is the appellation that may be used by Brunello producers when the wine is not 100% Sangiovese. This very permissive DOC allows for the production of a wide range of differing styles, including, as in this case, a Super Tuscan.
2016 Chateau Gloria
Regular price £130.75 Save £-130.75ABOUT THE WINE
One of the better-known Crus Bourgeois of the Medoc, still at reasonable prices. Chateau Gloria is made up of holdings of classified Crus and would deserve to be classified in its own right. Recent vintages have found all their character again, in the tradition of the great Saint-Julien wines.
TASTING NOTES
A majority Cabernet Sauvignon blend, expect beautiful aromas of blackcurrants and blueberries. The body is full, with very fine tannins that are strong and bright. Drinking very well right now, and will continue to develop over the next two decades and beyond.
2018 Vintage also available
Caol Ila 10YO Palo Cortado Sherry Cask Whisky
Regular price £79.95 Save £-79.95ABOUT THE WHISKY
The original Palo Cortado Caol Ila returns in a new release from the team at James Eadie. This one was finished in a single Refill Palo Cortado Sherry Hogshead for 9 months, then bottled at natural cask strength. One of only 315 bottles.
TASTING NOTES
A little lighter than previous expressions, you'll find barley water, sea salt and ashy peat smoke, with baked apple tart. On the palate palate there is spice and charred citrus alongside a touch of earth and dried dates. It rounds off with a little white pepper, soot and a lingering citrus note.
2022 Charles Deloire Pouilly Fume
Regular price £23.80 Save £-23.80ABOUT THE WINE
The vineyards of Deloire are spread out over the slopes bordering the right bank of the Loire. The rich limestone soil is particularly well-suited to vineyards, and an ideal south-western exposure ensures a perfect ripeness, while exposing the vineyards to the winds blowing up the valley from the Atlantic, which convey the classic 'gin-flint' minerality to the wines of Pouilly-Fumé.
TASTING NOTES
Citrus and soft, sweet gooseberry aromas, with an odd hint of blackcurrant. A crisp, mineral wine with a complex yet genteel palate and a long lingering aftertaste. The mineral edge of Pouilly-Fumé serves only to add freshness to this exceedingly enjoyable Sauvignon blanc.
FOOD PAIRING
Very much an aperitif wine - there is sufficient minerality for white fish, but this is best enjoyed as a refreshing treat on a warm day.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
Pouilly-Fumé tends to exhibit a more bracing character than its neighbour Sancerre; in this wine, however, that edge has been toned down to create a more subtle, palate-pleasing experience.
Also available in 2020 Half Bottle
2022 Les Vignes de Tracey, Pouilly Fume
Regular price £23.60 Save £-23.60ABOUT THE WINE
A brand produced by the co-operative Caves des Pouilly-sur-Loire, who receive and vinify the harvests of independent growers from throughout the region.
TASTING NOTES
The signature smokey chalkiness is evident from the get-go, as the tart green limes, green apple and gooseberries take over to reveal a racy and fresh palate. A great example of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc.
FOOD PAIRING
Baked ratatouille with goat's cheese and oysters Rockefeller.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
Co-operative producers in both Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre play an important role in maintaining the high standards of these appellations, setting the bar for quality and consistency.
Also available in 2017 Half Bottle
2015 Champagne Louis Roederer, Cristal Brut
Regular price £298.00 Save £-298.00ABOUT THE WINE
The most famous wine of the Roederer estate, Cristal was created in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes of Tsar Alexander II – the emperor asked Louis Roederer himself to reserve the House’s best cuvée for him every year. This exceptional champagne came in a flat-bottomed & transparent lead-crystal bottle (to foil the insertion of explosives in the indentation by would-be assassins!), hence the name. Not commercially available until 1945 it is only produced in the best of years when the Chardonnay (c. 40% of the blend) and Pinot Noir (c. 60%) have attained perfect ripeness. Cristal is then aged for 6 years in their cellars and left for a further 8 months after dégorgement. A remarkably balanced and refined style there is also tremendous aging potential; it can be kept for over 20 years without losing its freshness and character.
TASTING NOTES
Tropical fruit and brioche aromas on the nose and a silky texture complemented by a powerful mineral quality on the palate. With white stone fruit and citrus notes this is a luscious and deep flavoured champagne with a long finish – a truly harmonious marriage of the full-bodied, smooth & ripe Pinot Noir and the fresh, elegant minerality of Chardonnay.
2022 Reguta, Pinot Nero
Regular price £14.30 Save £-14.30ABOUT THE WINE
Founded in 1928, Reguta has been a prominent name in the Friuli ever since the region became famous for its world-class Pinot Grigio. It’s a unique region with a cooler Mediterranean climate, strongly influenced by the Bora wind contributing to dry and ideal growing conditions. Friuli and the surrounding regions are the only place in Europe where the Pinot family of grapes can be considered almost indigenous and traditional, with a long history, ever since they were brought from Burgundy by Venetian traders over two centuries ago. With fresh and crunchy fruit characters, they are expressions of Pinot’s which guarantees to please everyone at the table.
TASTING NOTES
Fragrant red berries of strawberries, raspberries, bramble berries and red cherries with an herbaceous lift of freshly cut sage and rosemary. Fresh and complex.
FOOD PAIRING
Pasta and pizza with tomato sauce, as well as roasted chicken and roasted lamb dishes. Versatile and easily paired with most regional Italian dishes.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
A light and refreshing wine, easy to drink.
