2019 Madame Veuve Point, Meursault
Regular price £72.00 Save £-72.00ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Madame Veuve Point is the unique story of a woman winemaker whose wines won the Grand Prize at the 1904 Saint Louis World Fair, and have continued making excellent Burgundy wines ever since. Now, Géraldine Point is the latest generation of the family to pick up the torch and continue a hundred year old wine making tradition.
The Meursault vineyard occupies the southern part of the Côte de Beaune and extends over gentle slopes. The vineyard finds its excellence in its limestone soils, creating some of the best Chardonnay wines in the Côte de Beaune!
TASTING NOTES
Its golden appearance, clear and brilliant, is accompanied by silvery highlights. On the nose you'll find notes of almond, grilled hazelnuts, butter and honey, white flowers (hawthorn, elder, fern, linden, and verbena) and mineral (flint). In the mouth, the combination is structured around a rich, full body with flavors of hazelnut and toasted bread. There is an excellent balance between fullness and freshness.
FOOD PAIRING
This wine has the breadth to accompany poultry and meats in cream sauce. It pairs perfectly with shellfish, both grilled and in sauce such as shrimp or lobster. Blue cheeses and foie gras are an excellent match too.

Chateau Montviel was purchased by the late Catherine Péré-Vergé in 1985 who’s passion and devotion to the estate was undeniable. This indefatigable perfectionist also owned Châteaux La Gravière, Le Gay and La Violette, and vineyards in the New World. The property's 10.1 hectares is characterised by clayey gravel and 30 year old vines planted with 80% Merlot & 20% Cabernet Franc. With Michel Rolland and Marcelo Pelleriti as the oenologists, you can expect exceptional quality production, continuing the legacy of Péré-Vergé in Pomerol.

2015 Champagne Louis Roederer, Cristal Brut
Regular price £298.00 Save £-298.00ABOUT THE WINE
The most famous wine of the Roederer estate, Cristal was created in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes of Tsar Alexander II – the emperor asked Louis Roederer himself to reserve the House’s best cuvée for him every year. This exceptional champagne came in a flat-bottomed & transparent lead-crystal bottle (to foil the insertion of explosives in the indentation by would-be assassins!), hence the name. Not commercially available until 1945 it is only produced in the best of years when the Chardonnay (c. 40% of the blend) and Pinot Noir (c. 60%) have attained perfect ripeness. Cristal is then aged for 6 years in their cellars and left for a further 8 months after dégorgement. A remarkably balanced and refined style there is also tremendous aging potential; it can be kept for over 20 years without losing its freshness and character.
TASTING NOTES
Tropical fruit and brioche aromas on the nose and a silky texture complemented by a powerful mineral quality on the palate. With white stone fruit and citrus notes this is a luscious and deep flavoured champagne with a long finish – a truly harmonious marriage of the full-bodied, smooth & ripe Pinot Noir and the fresh, elegant minerality of Chardonnay.
