Regular price £26.40 Save £-26.40PRODUCER NOTES
Domaine Bonnardot is a family-owned vineyard with three generations of experience in soil working and a passion for producing high-quality wine while respecting the terroir and nature. They completed their conversion to organic farming in 2021 after three years of testing, and continue to experiment with sowing, tillage, and the use of herbal teas and essential oils. They also prioritize promoting biodiversity by maintaining dry-stone walls, hedges, woods, and bee hives
TASTING NOTES
"Coup de Foudre", meaning 'love at first sight', is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir, derived from several parcels in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits that average about forty years old. Maturation in 'foudres', or large old tanks, imparts the wine with a unique character. Expressive on the nose, this cuvée emanates a charming blend of floral (violet) and fruity (small red fruit) notes with a slightly peppery finish. The palate is both fresh and pleasant, marked by light tannins and a very good balance. Its thirst-quenching nature speaks to the playful maturity of the wine.
FOOD PAIRING
An adaptable partner to many dishes, this wine shines with grilled red meat such as flank steak with chimichurri sauce, or poultry dishes like roast chicken with Provençal herbs. Its light and fruity style also makes it a fascinating companion to spice-infused dishes like Thai red curry or Moroccan tagine. For an unconventional pairing, serve it as an aperitif with a platter of assorted hard cheeses and dried fruits.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
This "Coup de Foudre" cuvée is a testament to the Bonnardot family's unwavering commitment to showcasing the expressiveness and versatility of Pinot Noir. Its lightness, fresh fruitiness, and delicate tannins make it a beautifully unique addition to its portfolio. With its reasonable keeping potential of 2 to 5 years, this wine offers an accessible introduction to Domaine's range while also providing an interesting option for collectors and enthusiasts.

2020 Domaine Guerrin & Fils, Pouilly Fuisse 1er Cru La Maréchaude
Regular price £82.50 Save £-82.50ABOUT THE WINE
The estate was created in 1926, in the heart of the village of Vergisson. Today the 4th generation of the family Guerrin cultivates their terroir with the same passion and rigour as their great-grandparents before them. The estate covers a total area of 14 hectares split between more than 35 small plots. This exceptional diversity of terroirs gives each of their wines a very distinct character.
TASTING NOTES
Hailing from the Pouilly-Fuissé premier cru vineyard La Maréchaude, this mellow yet flamboyant 100% Chardonnay is a true expression of its distinguished terroir. The nose unveils a sophisticated medley of ripe stone fruit, touched with nuances of blooming white flowers and toasty hazelnuts. On the palate, it is a symphony of balance and subtlety, combining a graceful minerality with a refined structure. The wine undergoes a slow fermentation in French oak barrels, with 20% new, followed by lees-ageing complemented by regular batonnage.
FOOD PAIRING
A gastronomic delight, this wine partners beautifully with a pan-seared sea bass served with a creamy leek fondue or a slow-roasted chicken with hazelnut and herb stuffing. An artisanal goat cheese tart with a salad of fresh greens, topped with candied walnuts, also makes for a harmonious pairing. Standalone, it serves as an enchanting aperitif that sets a sophisticated tone for any gathering.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
La Maréchaude, positioned at the northern edge of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, is famed for producing Chardonnay of distinct elegance and finesse. The vineyard's unique location on the slopes of the Roche de Vergisson and white limestone soils imbue the wine with a refreshing mineral character, beautifully offsetting the richness derived from lees-stirring and barrel ageing. This is a stellar expression of Pouilly-Fuissé's potential.
2013 Moet & Chandon, Dom Perignon
Regular price £230.00 Save £-230.00Founded by Claude Moët in 1743, Moët et Chandon holds a prestigious place in the world of Champagne, crafting an impressive 28 million bottles every year. It was the first Champagne house to focus solely on the production of sparkling wines, solidifying its reputation amongst the French royal court and across the globe. The cherished Dom Perignon brand became part of Moët's collection in 1927 through a fortuitous marriage. An unexpected stir caused by the release of an older-vintage wine in 1936 inspired Marketing Director Robert-Jean de Vogüé to offer a luxury Cuvee under the Dom Perignon name. Initially just a rebottling of the 1921 Moët vintage, the brand underwent a transformation from 1943 onwards, gradually becoming distinct from its parent company. Dom Perignon's exclusive vineyards are home to some of the finest grapes in the region. The amount produced from each vintage remains a secret, although speculation suggests it may surpass 2 million bottles.
TASTING NOTES
The 2013 vintage presents a harmonious alchemy of 49% Pinot Noir and 51% Chardonnay, its character deepened by a 5g/l dosage. The olfactory journey begins with verdant undertones of eucalyptus, mint, and vetiver, subtly transitioning into the luscious, sun-kissed hues of mirabelle plums, apricots, and fragrant orange blossom. Delicate whispers of pepper, cardamom, liquorice, and toasted hints punctuate the aroma, concluding on a distinctive saline note. The sensory experience is refined and sumptuously textured, with a compelling saline finish.
FOOD PAIRING
Perfectly suited to seared scallops with a light citrus glaze, a rich crab bisque, or an indulgent truffle pasta, these choices will harmonize beautifully with the wine's multifaceted character.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
The namesake of this wine, Dom Perignon, was a Benedictine monk and cellar master at the Abbaye Saint-Pierre d'Hautvillers. His primary objective, quite paradoxically, was to remove the bubbles from the semi-sweet red wines that were the hallmark of the Champagne region at the time. Although he didn't pioneer the Champagne method, his contributions significantly shaped the winemaking practices of the region. The 2013 Dom Perignon, an embodiment of the distinct conditions of its vintage, pays homage to this enduring legacy.

TASTING NOTES
Harvested during the serene Provençal dawns, meticulously de-stemmed and fermented exclusively in stainless steel. Temperature regulated to prevent oxidation.
