ABOUT THE WINE
Bodegas Torres is a family business that was founded in 1870 by Jaime and Miguel Torres Vendrell, and subsequent generations have continued to dedicate themselves to the production of wine and brandy. In Spain it has wineries of its own in some of the most prestigious wine making regions - including Penedés, Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Priorat amongst others. They currently enjoy an excellent international standing, exporting to more than 140 countries around the world. Made in the Rias Baixas DO Pazo das Bruxos is a wine that pays homage to the folklore and nature of Galicia; a land of immense forests inhabited by mystical and magical beings like the fabled Galician witches (Bruxas) who lived in old country houses (Pazos) where they would connect with nature through dances and spells - no doubt hoping to obtain favourable harvests.. This lovely example of the Albarino varietal is mostly produced with grapes from the O'Rosal municipality; an area which is humid from its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and with a reputation for high rainfall particularly during the autumn and winter. Precipitation during the autumn is of particular concern pre-harvest so the vines are trained on pergolas rising up to seven feet above the ground to provide ventilation and avoid issues with rot. The wine is then fermented in stainless steel tanks - avoiding exposure to oak - which preserves a mouthwatering freshness and vibrancy.

TASTING NOTES
On the nose stone and tropical fruit, with peach and green apple most notable, hints of white flower, spice accompanied with lemon peel. The palate is sweet with green apple, white peach and refreshingly clean. Finish is elegant and long with a touch of minerality, coupled with zingy citrus.

FOOD PAIRING
Perfect with seafood, especially shellfish.

FRIARWOOD SAYS
This wine is a wonderful expression of the region and grape – fresh, crispy and delicious.
