ABOUT THE WINE
Managed by Bertrand and Christiane Devillard and their children Amaury and Aurore since 1996, the Domaine des Perdrix, located in the Cote de Nuits, is spread over 12 hectares of the finest terroirs within the villages of Nuits Saint-Georges and Vosne Romanee. Nearly 5 hectares of the estate produces Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru wines, among which the excellent Aux-Perdrix is a quasi-monopole (99% under the ownership of the domaine). The quality of the vineyards, rigorous management and careful vinification have established the Domaine des Perdrix as a highly-renowned producer in the region.
TASTING NOTES
Beautiful bright green-gold in colour. The nose is intense and very expressive, dominated by white flowers flavours, gingerbread, orange peel and hazelnut. On the palate, the wine is zippy and refreshing, with buttery oak-derived flavours adding complexity and texture. A wine with exceptional ageing potential.
FOOD PAIRING
Salmon-en-Croute with creamed leeks, free-range rotisserie chicken with polenta and collard greens & cream of mushroom soup with oyster mushrooms.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
Nuits-Saint-Georges is predominantly a red-wine appellation; within such areas white-wine vineyards are usually replanted - unless the wines they produce are particularly special; this 1er Cru is exactly that kind of special, distinctive exception.
