ABOUT THE WINE
Husband and wife team Gary and Kathy Jordan have been making world-class wines at this estate since 1993 on a farm with a history going back over 300 years. The Jordan philosophy combines the natural assets of their land with innovative vineyard management, resulting in a profound expression of the Stellenbosch terroir.
TASTING NOTES
A rich, sleek Chardonnay with excellent balance, full of pristine white fruit, and a lick of salinity and shimmering lemon on a long, elegant finish. Very much a New World style, with full malolactic fermentation, and 92% aged in oak barrels, 32% new. Some of the barrels were even rolled over to stir up the lees and increase the nutty complexity derived; overall, a triumph.
FOOD PAIRING
Turbot cooked in a rich sauce or grilled veal chops with mushrooms. Vegetable ravioli is a very good pairing too.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
A classic example of the ability of South African producers to create world-beating wines without the associated price-tag. Splendid value!
