ABOUT THE WINE:
A 95-hectare estate (37-hectares of vineyard) covering some of the finest terroirs in Mercurey. The château, overlooking the village of Chamirey, was built in the early 18th Century, and saw a succession of owners before coming into the Devillard family through marriage. The estate began bottling its own wines in 1934, making it a forerunner in the region.
Bright and lean, with brioche and vanilla from the oak influence. The palate is delightful, with wood-spice, citrus fruit, apricot and vanilla mingling on a long, fresh finish.
Ideal with chicken casserole.
A monopole, entirely owned by the Château de Chamirey; aged in lightly toasted French oak, 15% new, for 11 months.
