ABOUT THE WINE
Cape Chamonix Wine Farm once formed part of the historic Huguenot estate, La Cotte, which was founded in 1688. Acquired by German-born entrepreneur Chris Hellinger around 25 years ago, the estate has since undergone tremendous improvement, and offers visitors a host of culinary and recreational options in spectacular surroundings.
TASTING NOTES
A complex, fresh bouquet with scents of wild berries, spice, sour cherry and violet. On the palate the wine shows medium body with red-fruit flavours balanced by soft, elegant tannin. Long, refreshing finish.
FOOD PAIRING
Great with barbecued pork loin and peach chutney, or braised duck-breast.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
A tour de force for an appellation not particularly well suited to the varietal – intense attention to detail in the harvest, grape-selection and wine-making process has allowed Chamonix to craft a truly spectacular, highly individual wine. 4.5* in the 2019 Platter Guide.
