ABOUT THE WINE
Located just outside the village of Catusseau, this estate boasts 32 hectares of clay-gravel vineyards situated in a large area of parkland, southwest-facing on a high plateau. Purchased by Domaines Delon in 1997, it has since seen significant investment, and changes in the cellar and vineyards have imbued the wines with greater purity and depth of fruit.
TASTING NOTES
Made up of 82% Merlot & 18% Cabernet Franc, the 2010 vintage is a reflection of the excellent growing season. Considered an outstanding vintage, especially in the Right Bank, the Nenin delights the senses with rich, dark, fresh fruits. Black Forest fruits, along with plum compote, cassis, fresh cinnamon bark, aniseed and Cuban tobacco. The finish releases more savoury, herbaceous notes along with mushrooms and prunes. Just a couple of years into its ideal drinking window, this wine has a lot to show and an even more promising future ahead of it. Drink now after decanting for an hour, or keep for another decade...
FOOD PAIRING
Pheasant with celeriac purée, Chestnut Gnocchi and gamey Venison Wellington with shallot reduction.
