ABOUT THE WINE
Classified as a Grand Cru Classe de Graves. It was Du Boscq who planted vines in 1365 on a gravelly plateau called Lafite. This is of course where part of the famous chateau took its name from. In 1990 the Cathiard family bought the property. It took a decade of hard work and investments but from 2000 the wines started to show a lot of improvement. 67 of the 78 hectares planted are used for the production of red. The vineyard is planted to 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. All work done in the vineyard is organic and self-sustainable. The wine is aged for 16 to 18 months in 60 % to 70 % new French oak produce on the estate by their own cooperage.

ABOUT THE VINTAGE
The most successful regions. Another vintage saved by some better weather at the end of the season.
