ABOUT THE WINE
There have been Chaves growing vines on the hill of Hermitage since 1481. Gerard Chave elevated the estate to superstar status with his attention to detail and obsession with quality. His son, Jean-Louis, has elevated the estate still further, with devotion to low-yields, traditional farming methods and minimal manipulation in the cellar.

TASTING NOTES
White flowers, honeysuckle, orange blossom, lemon curd, citrus peel, passion-fruit… wonderfully complex, with fresh and dried fruit flavours, a mouth-filling intensity and a mellow, lingering finish. Hazelnut, a hint of saline and honey-vanilla… aged Hermitage at its finest.

FOOD PAIRING
Best enjoyed on its own, to savour the complexity; this will go perfectly with chicken, full-flavoured fish dishes and even light pork dishes.

FRIARWOOD SAYS
The grapes for the Hermitage Blanc come primarily from four plots: Hermite (a monopole at the top of the hill owned by the Chave family since 1984), Peleàt (another monopole, further down the hill), and Maison Blanche.
