Friarwood is proud to announce the launch of the UK’s first on-trade Fairtrade wines. As of 2005 we are a registered Fairtrade distributor and are extremely proud of our association with the Fairtrade Foundation.
Produced in accordance with the international Fairtrade standards scheme this range of wine contributes to the development of disadvantaged producers in South Africa.
The Fairtrade mark is an independent consumer guarantee with the aim of helping producers in developing countries to get a better deal from international trade: to relieve the causes of poverty by tackling some of the injustices of world trade. When you see products carrying the Fairtrade mark you can be guaranteed:
Growers will receive a fair price for their produce.
Growers have the security to invest in their farms and create a better future for their families.
Greater respect for the environment.
Smaller farmers will have a stronger position in world markets.
A closer link between the consumer and producers.
The Ormer Bay range is an excellent ambassador of quality Fairtrade produce. At no point have our rigorous selection requirements been compromised and we are more than happy to list these wines in our portfolio.
Ormer Bay wines are produced in Citrusdal, South Africa. High altitude with cooling mountain breezes ensure the grapes reach optimum physiological ripeness. Packed with fruit and thoroughly modern in style the Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet-Pinotage and Merlot are all pure and clean wines, beautifully representative of their respective grape varieties.
