SPENCERFIELD SPIRIT COMPANY

The Spencerfield Farmhouse, the home of the company, was built East of Inverkeithing overlooking the Firth of Forth. It was built in 1510, initially as a defensive tower house overlooking the harbour and guarding important trade routes between the Highlands, Islands, Edinburgh and the South. A distillery was built on the site in 1795, business flourished and by 1860 it was producing a Lowland malt whisky for the local and English markets.
