CHATEAU LES ORMES DE PEZ – GRAND CRO BOURGEOIS

One of the finest and most reliable cru bourgeois in Saint-Estephe, Les Ormes De Pez has since 1940 belonged to the Cazes family, who also have a proven track record at Chateau Lynch Bages in Paullac.The vineyards are spread over quite a large area, on a mixture of pure gravel and sand and gravel and clay. The wine is aged in barriques for 15 months, with around 40% new oak. The resulting wine is full bodied, supple and characterful, and though not particularly subtle, is eminently drinkable, and ages well.
