ABOUT LALANDE DE POMEROL:
He Lalande de Pomerol appellation is located on the right bank of the Dordogne, approximately 30km north-east of Bordeaux. This appellation has a total surface area of 1,334 hectares out of which 1,000 hectares are under vine. The main grape varieties in this area are Merlot, along with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are grown on sandy, gravelly and clayey soils.
PRODUCER NOTES:
Chateau Le Manoir is owned by M. Giraud and located in the commune of Lalande de Pomerol.
The Manoir is an old medieval chateau, located on the top of a dale, facing the Domaine de l'A (Stéphane Derenoncourt's own property). Put together, the various parcels of this small valley make up the whole vineyard. The vines are classified according to their age and their degree of exposure to the sun. The combination of their rigorous work in the vineyard and the ideal natural conditions (clay-limestone soils, south-exposed slopes, natural draining), enables the grapes to reach perfect maturity. The berries are picked according to each parcel’s stage of maturation and a highly precise vinification can then be undertaken.
