CHATEAU LA LAGUNE – 3eme CRU CLASSE
This property dates back to 1750, and is a huge sprawling chartreuse, which has been restored by the current managers of the property: The Freys. Completely replanted following the Phyloxera crisis, and then a devastating frost in the mid -‘50’s. The estate was purchased by Bollinger in 2004.
Due to the soil in Southern Medoc, La Lagune is never overpowering, and often resembles Margaux types – usually reliable, the recent vintages have hinted at a real breakthrough in quality and elegance – they benefit from careful cellaring and will drink best after 8-10 years.
