Trois Origines 2005

Trois Origines 2005

TROIS ORIGINES

The 'Three Origins' is a brand new venture started by three established wine making professionals. The most famous is the winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt who makes the wine at a number of regarded properties, including amongst others Chateaux Pavie Macquin, Clos Fourtet and Canon La Gaffeliere. The 2005 is the first release from this tiny 1.6 hectare estate. The estate has biodynamic certification, and is an elegant mix of Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (15%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).

This wine offers a beautiful velvety mouthfeel on the palate, with deep aromas of perfectly ripe red cherry and red and black currant fruit. There is a bit of quality toasted oak on the mid-palate (33% new oak used, rest is only one or two years old) following onto a smooth finish with sleek tannins and obvious ageing potential. This offers great value compared to some better known names in St Emilion.
