ABOUT GRAVES & GRAVES SUPERIEURES:
T
his area is located on the left bank of the Garonne, mostly south of the city of Bordeaux. It is surrounded by the Medoc to the north and by Sauternes and Barsac to the south. The total area of AC reaches more than 9,000 hectares. The Graves and Graves Supérieures cover respectively 3,100 and 400 hectares of vines. The Graves area essentially produces red and dry white wines, while the Graves Supérieures produces semi-sweet white wines. The main red grape varieties grown are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc while the main white grape varieties grown are Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle.
 
PRODUCER NOTES:
Chateau La Fleur des Pins is owned by the Chateau Haut-Bergeron, located in the Sauternes region, and has been managed by the Lamothe family for 5 generations, making it one of the most ancient family estates in the Sauternes AOC. The Chateau also owns a small plot of 8.5 hectares located in the Graves appellation where two wines are produced: la Fleur des Pins and Le Clos des Pins. The 2.75 hectares vineyard of La Fleur des Pins is located in the village of Pujols-sur-Ciron, on the Grave Supérieures appellation, and is surrounded by the Sauternes appellation.
