CHATEAU D'YQUEM - 1ER CRU SUPRERIEUR CLASSE SAUTERNES

Yquem has been in a class of its own since the 18th century. Critics can rarely fault this superlative wine, and it is known worldwide as France's finest weet wine. With an enviable list of customers (George Washington, Napoleon, the Russian Monarchy), and some heavyweight literary references (Dumas, Proust, Colette, Verne, Dostoevsky, Nabakov, to name but a few...), it's no surprise that the estate was snapped up by luxury goods group LVMH in 1999.

Still supreme in Sauternes despite ownership changes, Yquem isconsistently rich, elegant, subtle and ageworthy. Vintages vary enormously in terms of flavour profile, but most critics agree that there has never been a bad year at Yquem.
