CHATEAU RIEUSSEC - 1ER CRU CLASSE SAUTERNES

Pre-Revolution Rieussec was owned by Carmelite Nuns, now it is owned by the Rothschild group, and it is in a location which rivals Yquem.

Before the 1970's Rieussec was one of the lightest Sauternes, then became one of the heaviest up until 1984, when the Rothschilds redressed the balance, and arguably made Rieussec the best it has ever been.

Uniformly top quality dermonstrates the rigorous selection at practise here. The wine is very much worth the higher price tag, when compared to other Sauterenes: There is great purity and finesse in the wines, yet with impressive vigour and complexity.
