More familiar by its abbreviation ‘Pichon-Lalande’, the estate, along with Latour and Pichon-Longueville dominates the southern part of Pauillac, somewhat curiously, 9 hectares of this estate are across the border in St-Julien, though Pichon Lalande has special dispensation to make this wine honorary Pauillac!

The relatively high proportion of merlot and the restrained use of new oak mean that the wines are elegant and refined rather than muscular and powerful. Pichon Lalande ages exceptionally well, though the great harmony of fruit and oak means that the wines are accessible when quite young.
