French Rosé: A Springtime Affair

French Rosé stands as a testament to spring's allure, embodying the delicate balance between the freshness of white wines and the depth of red wines. Provence, known as the Rosé capital of the world, offers wines that are as picturesque as its landscape. With a palette ranging from pale pink to deep salmon, these wines are celebrated for their crisp acidity, subtle minerality, and notes of red berries, citrus, and floral undertones. A glass of French Rosé is perfect for spring afternoons, pairing splendidly with light salads, seafood, and the blooming ambiance of the season.

Try: Les Quatre Tours Rosés

Nestled between the Mediterranean and the Alps, in the heart of Provence, lies the picturesque Les Quatre Tours estate. As the setting that inspired Van Gogh and Cézanne, this idyllic region has been home to the production of exceptional, rich, and opulent wines for over a century. They offer two excellent Provence Rosé wines.

Estrelia Rosé

A luminous, blush pink hue enchants the eye. The nose is delightfully vibrant, showcasing a medley of zesty grapefruit, crisp green apple, and succulent red fruits. Savour the expertly balanced, enduring refreshment, as fruity notes of red currants, sun-ripened strawberries, and juicy grapefruit dance upon the palate. A dry finish, underscored by elegant minerality, leaves a lasting impression.

La Colline Rosé

Les Quatre Tours' 2022 La Colline is their Certified Organic, higher-end rosé, embodying the essence and vibrant colours of southern France. A radiant, blush pink hue captivates the eye, while the nose delights with a lively bouquet of zesty grapefruit, tangy green apple, and luscious red fruits. Revel in the impeccably balanced, refreshing taste as fruity notes of pomegranate, sun-kissed strawberries, and succulent grapefruit waltz across the palate. A dry finish, accentuated by a refined minerality, leaves an unforgettable impression.

English Sparkling Wines: A Toast to Spring's Elegance

The rise of English Sparkling Wines has been a delightful revelation in the world of viticulture, marking England as a prestigious producer of sparkling wines that rival their Continental counterparts. The cool climate of regions like Sussex, Kent, and Hampshire allows for the cultivation of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes, which contribute to the wines’ refined acidity and complex bouquet. Notes of apple, pear, and subtle hints of citrus and brioche make these sparkling wines a perfect celebration of spring's awakening. Ideal for any springtime festivity, English Sparkling Wines bring a touch of elegance and a refreshing twist to your gatherings, pairing beautifully with everything from sophisticated canapés to classic British fare.

Try: Roebuck Estates English Sparkling Wines

Roebuck Estates are one of the newer players on the English wine scene (oldest vines planted in 2006), now spanning over 200,000 vines across four sites in the beautiful county of Sussex. With various soil types and plantings, including Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, the team has plenty of elements working in their favour to create award-winning, classic English sparkling wines.

Roebuck Estates Classic Cuvee

A refined sparkling wine bursting with citrus fruit and baked apples, perfectly balanced by rich toasted notes. Partial fermentation in the finest French oak casks, followed by long lees ageing for a minimum of 36 months, gives this wine additional richness, depth and complexity. The bubbles are delicate and linger on the palate.

Roebuck Estates Rosé

Fragrant aromas of wild strawberries, white peach and rose petals. An expressive palate displaying notes of ripe red fruits, honeysuckle and white blossom. The wine is perfectly balanced with a bright seam of acidity, a fine persistent mousse and a long yet elegant length.

And for those who absolutely must have Champagne...

Billecart Salmon Champagnes

A brand synonymous with some of the finest restaurants around the world, Billecart-Salmon is located in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and has been family owned since 1818. Made by the same cellar master for nearly 30 years. Among Champagnes as prestigious as Krug & Dom Pérignon, a bottle of Billecart-Salmon was chosen as the Champagne of the Millennium in 1999.

Billecart Salmon, Brut Rosé

Harmonious and elegant raspberry and strawberry character that’s married with whipped cream, red currants, persimmon and apricots. Fine bubbles that carry through the finish. Pair with steak tartare, salmon and tuna sashimi as well as roast turkey.

Tuscan Reds: Embrace the Warmth

As the days grow longer and the evenings milder, Tuscan Reds invite you to embrace the warmth of spring. Wines like Chianti, made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, are known for their rich berry flavors, hints of spice, and smooth tannins. These reds are a perfect match for grilled meats, hearty pastas, and cheese platters, making them an excellent choice for springtime barbecues and outdoor dining. Experience the essence of Tuscany with a glass of red wine that celebrates the rebirth and vitality of the season.

Try: Our Tuscan Favourites

Conti di San Bonifacio, Monteregio

The estate, in the Maremma region of Tuscany, was purchased in 2002 by the Conte di San Bonifacio, Manfredo, and his English wife, Sarah. They have since transformed it into a spectacular wine resort and wedding venue. Their Monteregio wine has wonderfully intense red fruit along with notes of blueberry, cocoa, oak and hint of cinnamon on the nose. Densely textured and persistent on the palate with a savoury freshness. It fully respects the character of the Sangiovese grape from the Monteregio hills with a nice length on the smooth finish.

Agriturismo Colognole, Chianti Rufina

We love this Chianti, from an area that produces softer wines compared to the Classico counterpart. A medium body with a ruby red colour. Cherry fruit on the nose with darker fruit, light spice and earth on the palate, extremely smooth, and velvety tannins, and perfect acidity and well-balanced. It goes particularly well with traditional Tuscan meat dishes, such as grilled lamb, pork ribs, stew, and antipasto.

Spanish White Wines: A Refreshing Escape

Spain offers a diverse palette of white wines that are as refreshing as a spring breeze. Varietals like Albariño and Verdejo stand out with their bright acidity, aromatic intensity, and flavors of green apple, citrus, and floral notes. These wines are not only invigorating on their own but also versatile in food pairings, complementing everything from tapas and seafood to fresh salads and cheeses. A glass of Spanish white wine is your ticket to a refreshing escape this spring, capturing the essence of Spain's vibrant landscapes and lively culture.

Try: Special Spanish Wines

Bodegas Torrederos Verdejo

Situated in Rueda - this wine has a highly aromatic nose dominated by aromas of white fruit, citrus and a touch of fennel. Crisp yet full palate followed by great acidity on a long, crunchy finish. Delicious with fish tacos or grilled octopus. Can also stand against aromatic spices like dill and coriander.

Vina Costeira Tambora Albariño

Viña Costeira's bold claim of being the finest winery in Spain is not without merit. Established in 1968 by a group of forward-thinking pioneers who recognized the potential of Galicia's indigenous grape varieties, the winery has since blossomed into one of the region's largest producers. Dedicated to preserving both ancient vineyards and cherished traditions of Galician wine-making, each bottle embodies the spirit of its heritage. This fresh Albariño is a lively and invigorating expression, bursting with vibrant tropical fruit aromas. The palate is delightfully crisp and clean, showcasing bright citrus notes intertwined with ripe red apples. The finish is refreshing, leaving a lasting impression of pure enjoyment.
